Okay, I am totally going to be that person again. That person who posts what they are going to be eating all week. These are the posts that I usually 'mark as read' in my feed, and it's AOk with me if you do too. I am in a meal rut. I've been eating the same things day in and day out. I'm uninspired in the kitchen, so the hope is that by forcing myself to try some new recipes, I will no longer be in the rut. Maybe you'll find some recipes that you like too.
My default breakfasts have been making me feel physically ill for roughly two weeks now. I don't know what that's all about, but I really don't like it. I need to come up with something new, but I don't have a single clue what. I can't eat oatmeal anymore, because it has made me feel very sick for a number of months now. Again, don't know what's up with that, since I ate it for breakfast every day last year. My prior thoughts have been that by doing this I have somehow become intolerant to oats... Somewhat like how someone would develop a gluten intolerance. I don't know. It's a theory of mine. My other (newer) defaults of protein pancakes and omelettes are now not doing me any good either. Other than those three options, I'm not really sure which direction to head in. Suggestions are GREATLY appreciated. Lunch these days is non-existent. I am on campus right through lunch and don't get home until nearly suppertime. I'm bad and neglect to pack anything, and of course I won't touch the fast food at school. I should note that it's really strange being at a school where there are fast food chains on campus, and not strange in a good way. At uVic, all of the food establishments were run by the school and most of the ingredients were locally sourced. I liked that. So lunch is a write-off. Since breakfast is making me ill and lunch doesn't happen, suppertime has become my favorite meal of the day. That is saying a lot, because I am B-O-R-E-D of everything that I've been eating. I tend to gravitate towards bowl foods... During the wintertime I make a really bad habit of eating in my room by my heater while watching a television program. I know, I know, it's bad of me. I actually find that if I watch television while I'm eating it helps me to pace myself, whereas when I eat at the dinner table I'm done my meal in .5 seconds. This is the total opposite of what is supposed to happen. Bowl foods though, are excellent because I get a mishmash of all my macros. Generally, I don't like things such as wraps/handheld foods, because I also eat those way too quickly, and soups, just because.
And there you have it...A whole lot of bullshit about my food tendencies. Now, if you're still here, take a look at what I'll be eating this week.

*** You might be looking at this and going, "Wait, isn't she a vegetarian?" Yup, I am 99.9% of the time. I really hate prescribing to such a label, but vegetarianism is what I most identify with. What I really am is a savvy shopper. I eat a mostly plant-based diet, with the addition of beans, some grains, some dairy, and occasionally (more often than I'd like to admit) soy products. Once in a while, I'll treat myself to fish if I find a recipe that I'd really like to try and am able to track down some sustainable product. That's what my diet is really about. Eating as close to the earth and as sustainably as possible. If I could afford properly raised and treated meat products (or had a desire to do so), I likely would. So I'm kind of a vegetarian, kind of a pescetarian, but mostly I'm just conscious of the effects of my diet on both my health and the environment.

I wish I could eat as clean as you! I'm severely lacking in the fruits and vegetables department. I've always wanted to try out the cauliflower pizza crust recipe. I've heard it's good, but I'm just too impatient to wait for it to cook in the oven.
ReplyDeleteAs for breakfast suggestions, perhaps try cooking eggs in different ways, say one day over easy, the next could be hard boiled, and then add some fruits/vegetables on the side, or perhaps a slice of Ezekiel toast the side? That's my go-to breakfast.
Good luck with the plan :)
